High-level conference: Patrice Cani about Gut microbiota and health

Wagralim, the agrifood innovation cluster of Wallonia, is pleased to invite you to participate to a digital and international conference with the honored international well-known Prof. Patrice Cani, the occasion for you to learn about the microbiote. It will take place on September 30th from 10:00 – 11:00am CET,  in our annual event Food Connections 2022 online.

This year, we will have the honour to listen and learn more about gut microbiota with the internationally known Prof. Patrice Cani (© FNRS/Danny Gys), who is professor of Molecular Metabolism and Nutrition, research director FNRS-WELBIO and leading a research team at the Louvain Drug Research Institute (LDRI) of the University of Louvain (UCLouvain, Brussels, Belgium).

He is recipient of several international prestigious grants and is author/co-author of more than 330 scientific research publications, reviews and book chapters and ranked in the top 1% world-class researcher selected for his exceptional research performance and citations in the world, h-index >95 and cited more than 45 000 times.

In 2007, he published the discovery of the concept of metabolic endotoxemia. He discovered the beneficial role of the bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila on obesity and cardiometabolic risk factors, and more recently, he isolated a new promising bacterium: Dysosmobacter welbionis. His main research interests are the investigation of interactions between gut microbes and host in the context of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiometabolic disorders and cancer.
